International Development Solicitors FAQs

What is an international development solicitor?

An international development solicitor assists private businesses and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with their aid-funded projects. This can start at inception – compliance planning, preparing contracts with subcontractors or partnership agreements, data protection advice, and so on. International development solicitors can advise their clients in the contractual negotiations around the securing of funding from governments and other NGOs making funds available for development projects around the world.

How can international development solicitors assist with project financing?

International development solicitors help clients secure funding for projects by navigating the complexities of international finance laws, structuring financial agreements, and ensuring compliance with both local and international regulations.

What role do international development solicitors play in public-private partnerships?

These solicitors facilitate public-private partnerships by drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on risk allocation, and ensuring that projects comply with legal and regulatory frameworks, thereby fostering successful collaborations between public entities and private companies.

How do international development solicitors support environmental and social governance (ESG) in projects?

They ensure that development projects adhere to ESG standards by advising on compliance with environmental laws, social impact assessments, and governance practices. This helps clients achieve sustainable and ethically responsible project outcomes.
